About us

The Health Service and Digital Innovation Promotion Office at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) was established in 2023 with the support of President Shen Meng-Ru and under the leadership of Vice President Kuo Yau-Hwang. The inaugural CEO of the office is Dr. Hsu I-Lin from NCKU Hospital, and the Deputy CEOs are Associate Professor Chuang Kun-Ta from National Cheng Kung University and Director Chen Pheng-Shseng from NCKU Hospital. They are guided by the NCKU Health Services and Digital Innovation Promotion Committee, with Vice President Kuo Yau-Hwang serving as the committee convener and Vice President Lee Ching-Chang as the vice convener. The purpose of establishing the Health Service and Digital Innovation Promotion Office at NCKU is to drive the digital transformation process at National Cheng Kung University and enable this prominent higher education institution in southern Taiwan to contribute to the region's digital transformation efforts. Additionally, the office aims to provide specific and feasible recommendations for Taiwan's sustainable development policies. The initial implementation will commence with the planning and construction of the Shalun Medical Service District, integrating health services and digital innovation to create a novel medical experience model. Simultaneously, there are plans to establish a Data Innovation Strategic Zone in the Shalun campus, where a Data Innovation Institute will be set up, and international entrepreneurial accelerators will be introduced, offering technological and entrepreneurial resources for the digital industry development in the southern region of Taiwan. Through collaboration with the Tainan City government, focusing on the NCKU Shalun campus, support will be provided for the planning and development of the Shalun Green Energy Science City, aiming to establish a digitally sustainable new city. Ultimately, the goal is to expand from the Shalun Green Energy Science City to surrounding townships, districts, counties, and cities, promoting the Greater Southern Taiwan Knowledge Economic and Lifestyle Circle. This initiative will provide policy recommendations and demonstrations in the field of digital innovation to help Taiwan become a smart silicon island.
